Biography followed by Resume I was 11 when I realized what art meant to me. At the time I was visiting Holland and seeing Rembrandt's original oil paintings. The power of the visual language: The depth of the emotions he portrayed coupled with the mastery of rendering the human body, even its soul, hit me like nothing I have seen before or since. The life I have lived and the experiences I have gained have only confirmed my feelings. When I returned I attempted my very first drawing, a portrait of my favorite poet in charcoal from a black and white photograph. I did not know that I could sharpen a charcoal and had no reason to expect much of the outcome. Yet I was pleasantly surprised. Having experienced the emotions art can create and being encouraged by what I believed was my own yet-undeveloped potential I wanted to paint more than anything else. However, growing up in a small economy and a technocratic society art was not perceived as a viable career choice. I pursued other studies. I completed a BS in Chemistry, with honors, and an MBA. I moved to the US, on my own, when I was 23. I completed the first year of Art School prior to leaving Israel and later continued to take art classes at the New York Academy of Art for four more years. I started exhibiting my work in 2000.

I am inspired to paint daily by the mere fact that I can finally do so.
